  • The importance of giving dogs space.
  • How to pet dogs and where.
  • Which parts of the dog’s body to avoid touching.
  • How to meet dogs.
  • Hugging and kissing scares dogs. What to do instead.

This program runs between 30 and 40 minutes. It includes a puppet and a live dog (optional).

Two same-day sessions for $150.

Best Friend’s Dog-Bite Prevention Program

  • Interactive programs for school-aged children (grades Pre-K through Grade 6)
  • Program Price: $1,499 for a full day and $899 for a half day
  • Dog-bite prevention programs are offered in classrooms, providing students with greater participation due to smaller groups.
  • Alternatively, the program can be run multiple times in an auditorium setting for a larger crowd.
  • Nassau Boces Approved for Arts In Education. Grades Pre-K through Grade 6.

Curriculum:

  • Calming signals – the language of dogs and how they communicate with us.
  • Body language – Does a wagging tail mean a dog is happy? Most people will answer yes. That is not always the case. Learn what a wagging tail actually means and debunk other rumors, such as dogs love to receive hugs and kisses.
  • How to approach a dog – There are many steps to this process. Sticking your hand out toward the dog so the dog can smell you is not one of them.
  • When to give a dog space – Do we greet a dog behind a fence or inside a car? What about those cute newborn pups who are cuddled with mama? Let’s find out when it is safe and when we should stay away.

Each dog safety workshop for kids is designed for your specific needs and covers different topics. Please contact Dog Savvy Kids to learn more about the workshop that interests you.
